Types of Care

The Care We Provide

We can provide the following types of care

  • Residential care for those with and without dementia

Residential care offers 24 hour support to those people who need assistance with everyday living and find it hard to cope, through no fault of their own, in their own homes. We also provide this type of care for those who suffer from varying forms of dementia.

Holmside staff are specially trained to care for and understand residents individual living with dementia, their needs and aspirations. The environment and decor of Holmside have been specially chosen to help those with dementia, with nostalgic pictures adorned on the walls of all communal areas.

  • Residential Dementia Care

We offer a fully integrated, dementia friendly environment and our staff are both highly trained and experienced in this area. We obtain residents Dementia and dignity goals to promote wellbeing. We also identify and provide residents with cognitive impairments and a Dementia by following:
    • Signage and Pictures are provided for orientation
    • Reminiscing areas
    • Trained staff to recognize and deal effectively with Residents.
  • Respite & Short Breaks

Our respite care at Holmside provides 24-hour residential and dementia assistance on a short term basis. This type of care provides recuperation, companionship and respite for family carers. Regular period of respite care can support people to continue to live within their own home and offer often a much-needed rest to the care givers as well as those in their care.
  • Day Care

Day care services provide offer support for people who are still living at home, but who may need practical support and personal care during the day. It is also available to those who may feel alone and isolated at home and just in need of compassion, care and company during the day.

The benefits of day care include companionship, exercise, practical help and we also offer a wide range of activities to try. The aim of day care is to help those in our care remain stimulated, interested and as independent for as long as possible

  • How is the care funded?

To fully understand how the care will be paid for it is important to get an assessment to determine the category of care required. If you would like help or advise on this, our staff are always on hand to assist you with this, so please do not hesitate to speak to one of our care team providers.

If the person requiring care has capital below £23,250 they could be entitled to have their care fees met by their local authority. They would still be expected to contribute the majority of their income (pension and state benefits) towards the cost of their care. Each Local Authority has a standard amount that they will be prepared to pay towards someone’s care, so it is possible that a third-party top-up would be required if a care home is chosen that costs more than this.

Special rules apply if the person requiring care owns their own property and we would suggest that you seek specialist advice if this is the case.

Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2010 and the Care Quality Commission (Registration) Regulations 2009.
